Well, I need nothing specific out of here help or knowledge wise.

At the risk of sounding big headed. I do already know it all - at least within the realms of the models I own.  I do put in more than I want or need back from here, so am more than sorted on that front.

I run a very busy specialist website for a particular breed of Jap bike and have run others for more recent Jap models. They look(ed) better, work(ed) better and experienced far more traffic and interaction than this debacle ever has or will.

This dross has nothing to attract people to join or to enthuse anyone to post. The parent site is even worse. The "webmaster" clearly has no clue about text justification or web layout, so why not ask for someone that has ?

If a shop in the High Street has a filthy window and peeling paint with a sign that can barely be read- it's not likely to  attract much business or to sell many expensive items, or indeed many inexpensive ones. It will not become a hive of activity.

The club seems to have a few quid in the bank, so I am guessing we have a committee that likes the "power" of being in charge, albeit of a dead duck and have zero plans to change or to allow change.  Maybe it's a bit like being the director of a non league football team. Yeah they may have the flash title, but there is no substance behind it.

I really am unsure why I joined. Maybe I thought there may be a social element, but there is none.

After visiting the VJMC stand at Peterborough show I was less convinced. No-one ( an oldish couple) even rose from their deck chairs to speak to any of the guys viewing the bikes on display. If they cannot be bothered to recruit there, then what is the supposed purpose of being there ?

Ticking a box perhaps ? A jolly up at someone else's expense ? Who knows ?

Dicking about with Tansha is another example of being out of touch.

I think someone's taken note - first action is the forum's closing. Next action please?

I got that email. I thought much the same. I for one am out once my membership expires.

I refuse to feed the pigs in the trough. They can keep their kudos of running a club. They caught me once, they will not catch me again.

This is without doubt the weakest club I have ever belonged to. The real puzzle is how the hell do they still manage to exist ?

As far as members are concerned, they deliver absolutely f*ck all ....

We'll agree to disagree on that one. They have been helpful to me as regards a dating cert, and the shows are good as is Tansha. Like I said earlier, we can only get out what we put in. See you around.

A dating cert - jeez you can get those without trying too hard.

They can also be gotten from here without needing a membership, and the difference in cost is less than the membership fee.

This is not a club in the correct sense of the word. It's an ego trip for a privileged few.

Yet it could be so much more with a little leadership and enthusiasm.
